Solicitors must retain professional independence and the ability to advise their clients fearlessly and objectively. Independence is essential to the functioning of solicitors' relationships with all parties, and it is the duty of the solicitor to ensure that their independence is not compromised.

The many duties to which Barristers are subject require their absolute independence, free from all other influence, especially such as may arise from their personal interests or external pressure.
