How the codes express this duty

E&W Solicitors SRA Principles & Code Principle 3 strong 155 cases
You act: 1.3 with independence.
E&W Barristers BSB Handbook CD4; rC3.5; rC8 strong 72 cases
CD4 You must maintain your independence. rC3.5 you must ensure that your ability to act independently is not compromised. rC8 You must not do anything which could reasonably be seen by the public to undermine your honesty, integrity (CD3) or independence (CD4).
Cayman Islands Legal Services Code 2026 P.5; R.2.1(e); R.3.1 strong
Attorneys-at-law shall not allow their professional independence to be compromised... ensure that the attorney-at-law's ability to act independently is not compromised.
AU Solicitors Solicitors' Conduct Rules Rules 4.1.4; 17.1 strong 21 cases

IE Solicitors Law Society Guide Ch1 — Core values: Independence strong
Solicitors must retain professional independence and the ability to advise their clients fearlessly and objectively. Independence is essential to the functioning of solicitors' relationships with all parties, and it is the duty of the solicitor to ensure that their independence is not compromised.
IE Barristers Bar Code of Conduct Rule 2.8; Rule 2.1 strong
The many duties to which Barristers are subject require their absolute independence, free from all other influence, especially such as may arise from their personal interests or external pressure. Barristers must therefore avoid any impairment of their independence and be careful not to compromise their professional standards in order to please their client, the Court or third parties.
JM Attorneys Canons of Professional Ethics Canon IV(c) strong
An Attorney shall exercise independent judgment within the bounds of the law and the ethics of the profession for the benefit of his client.
JE Lawyers Law Society of Jersey Code P.5; R.4.1; R.5.1 d) strong
Members must not allow their professional independence to be compromised... Members must not do anything which could reasonably be seen by the public to undermine their honesty, integrity and independence... [R.5.1 d)] not permit their professional client, firm or any other person to limit their discretion as to how the interests of the client can best be served.

7.3-2 A lawyer shall not allow involvement in an outside interest to impair the exercise of the lawyer's independent judgment on behalf of a client. NZ Lawyers Conduct & Client Care Rules r 5 strong
A lawyer must be independent and free from compromising influences or loyalties when providing services to his or her clients.
SCO Solicitors LSS Standards of Conduct B1.3 strong
You must give independent advice free from external influences or personal interests which are inconsistent with these standards.
SG Lawyers Professional Conduct Rules 2015 r 4(b) partial 4 cases
A legal practitioner’s duty to the legal practitioner’s client is subject only to the legal practitioner’s duty to the court, and must at all times be fulfilled in a manner that upholds the standing and integrity of the Singapore legal system and the legal profession in Singapore.
HK Solicitors Solicitors' Guide Principle 3.01 strong
